And that is with aggressive AA so likely a performance hit frame rate wise vs a higher PPD that might get away with a little less aggressive AA. There's some noticeable backlight bleed along the edges of the screen, and the image appears a bit cloudy throughout due to the low contrast ratio. This is unexpected, as DisplayPort has enough bandwidth to support a 10-bit 1440p signal at 165Hz. The QN90B is a TV that's better if you want to use it for PC gaming as it has a higher refresh rate, VRR support, and HDMI 2.1 bandwidth. The Corsair XENEON 32QHD165 has simple, clean look with a very unique stand design and great build quality. Ill start with a statement: Monitors are not televisions, televisions are not monitors, and the traits that make a display excel in one category may not make it better for the other. Gamma is very close to the sRGB gamma curve, and colors are no longer over-saturated. The M8 also gets brighter, and it has a flicker-free backlight. Chroma 4:4:4 signals are only displayed properly in 'PC Mode', which is necessary for the clearest text possible. The monitor shows noticeable fringing around text which can cause it to appear blocky or pixelated when it should appear smooth. The AOC is a better choice for dark rooms, as it has a much higher contrast ratio, so blacks look black instead of gray in a dark room. It's a good choice for office users or media creators, with a large screen that makes it easier to see more of your work at once and wide viewing angles. With that said, lets dig in, because theres a lot to talk about. The vertical viewing angle is just decent. The back of the monitor is very plain, consisting of a single large panel with no standout design elements and no gamer aesthetic. The Samsung Smart Monitor M7 has fantastic gradient handling. The Gigabyte has much better picture quality, with higher peak brightness, higher contrast, better accuracy out of the box, and a wider color gamut. It has a moderate footprint, but it's so thin that you can still place a keyboard in front of the monitor. This is less obvious than with video sources, but if you do find it irritating with a particular title, turning the contrast enhancer feature off improves (but doesnt completely remove) the problem. Do not under any circumstances attempt to fit the QE65S95Bs heavy, centrally mounted, metal-finished pedestal stand without someone to help you. Unfortunately, there are no programmable buttons that you can assign to specific settings. LG includes an sRGB mode that can be used to reel in the wide color gamut, if needed.

As SAMSUNG DISPLAY is making the 3 size QD-OLED panels. If someone comes across a different type of panel or if theirs doesn't correspond to our review, let us know, and we will update the review. The back of the monitor is plain, with a smooth finish and an overall clean design. It's not bright enough for small highlights to stand out, and since there's no local dimming feature, bright areas of the screen are the same brightness as the rest of the scene. You can also use Corsair's iCUE software to adjust any setting on the monitor. The Samsung M7 43" is a unique 4k monitor with a smart platform built-in, and it's closer to a TV than it is to most typical monitors. Unlike most monitors, it even has slightly lower input lag with the variable refresh rate feature enabled. Yet in the end, for reasons we can only speculate about, it was actually Sony that gave us our first QD-OLED TV in the glorious form of the A95K. Pros Large 48 inch screen. so that you can compare the results easily. 150% scaling goes a long way to fixing, but it is not as good as an LCD screen. Very good HDR color gamut. The Samsung M7 has good gray uniformity. A few problems contribute to the Ultragear 48GQ900-Bs out-of-box woes. On the other hand, it has a slow response time and a relatively low refresh rate, so there's a lot of blur behind fast-moving objects. It has great coverage of the DCI-P3 color space used by most current HDR content, including most games. An aggressive design makes the LG Ultragear 48GQ900-B visually appealing to gamers. It'll accept and display a 1440p or 1080p signal, but there's no advantage to this as you can't play at a higher refresh rate. Enabling ClearType vastly improves this (top photo), but it's still not great. It comes with the Tizen smart platform like on Samsung TVs, which is user-friendly and has a ton of apps available to download. The Samsung M7 has objectively low input lag, so it feels responsive when gaming, but it's a bit higher than most comparable monitors and performs closer to most TVs instead. The Ultragear 48GQ900-Bs problems can make it inconvenient to use and prevent it from working well in professional workflows. It's especially noticeable when displaying any uniform color, like when browsing the web or watching/playing sports. Most monitors have no problem with brightness but are lacking in contrast, so they cant handle the range of luminance HDR provides. Why you can trust What Hi-Fi? The S95B supports Samsungs Ambient Mode, which lets you play a wide selection of digital artworks or video screensavers on the screen when youre not watching TV, so you dont have to share your room with a 65-inch black hole. The brightness instability issue noticed very occasionally with video sources crops up with some fast-paced games such as Dirt 5, too. It has six-aix color adjustment for saturation and hue. Samsung has marked the arrival of its first QD OLED TV with quite the design statement. It has extremely thin bezels on three sides, but there's a small gap between the side of the screen and the first pixels. As expected for an IPS monitor, it has wide viewing angles but low contrast, so it doesn't look its best in a dark room. The results persisted. The color temperature is slightly cool, but it's not noticeable. Color accuracy was much better with some effort to bring it in line, though still not great. Unfortunately, we couldn't measure the 10-bit HDR input lag because the highest refresh rate for 10-bit HDR over HDMI on this monitor is 60Hz, and we don't have the necessary tools to measure it at its max refresh rate over a DisplayPort connection. It isn't really an issue, though, since a setting of '10' is extremely dim. Our unit was manufactured in December2021; you can see the labelhere. Cleartype comes with windows. The LG 32QN55T-B.AUS has a decent HDR color gamut. Colors are just as bright as pure white, but like most IPS monitors, it can't display dark saturated colors due to the low contrast ratio. There are no signs of temporary image retention on our unit, which is great. It has a big, fat dial and just six buttons. It can't downscale 4k signals, and it's limited to a 60Hz refresh rate. It also has good coverage of the Adobe RGB color space used for photo editing, but reds and blues are oversaturated, and it can't display the full range of greens. The AW3423DW has its disadvantages too, though. It doesn't have nearly the same amount of gaming features, but instead, it has a 40-inch screen with a 5k2k resolution that results in extremely sharp text. Namely Dolby Atmos playback (Atmos can also be sent out losslessly via HDMI eARC to compatible soundbars and AVRs) and Samsungs Object Tracking Sound system, where sound effects appear to be coming from the correct part of the screen. The stand doesnt adjust, not even for tilt, which is normal for monitors of this size. The white balance is very good, with no significant issues, but color accuracy is noticeably off in most colors. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a local dimming feature to improve contrast. The text fringing isnt as noticeable as it is on Samsungs QD-OLED panels. 60 PPD is also what is generally considered the minimum PPD for massaged text sub-sampling and aggressive AA to be able to compensate enough vs. text fringing and graphics aliasing. LGs C2 OLED offers a game mode which gets around this, but the Ultragear 48GQ900-B doesnt need that. The Samsung Smart Monitor M7 has an okay response time at the max refresh rate of 60Hz. Although this monitor supports a variable refresh rate, it's not compatible with the PS5. The LG 32QN55T has great gray uniformity. This monitor has very basic compatibility with the Xbox Series S|X. There's no noticeable variation in brightness across different scenes, which is great. The Samsung Smart Monitor M7 can't take full advantage of the PS5, as it's limited to a 60Hz refresh rate and doesn't support a variable refresh rate. It's only an issue if you plan on using it in a dark room, as blacks look gray in the dark. A matte display coat helps diffuse light, but glare was a minor issue on sunny days. For gaming and content consumption, its not an issue at all. Its fine on a desktop, where its more likely to be used at low volume, but not suited for home theater. There are three levels of pixel overdrive to choose from, but the 'Standard' setting delivers the best, safest results overall. The great contrast ratio provides an excellent sense of depth and dimensionality. The aluminum stand has a premium feel to it. so that you can compare the results easily. However, using Power Tools's FancyZones, I prefer multitasking on the huge TV than a single ultrawide because I can fit like 5-6 windows at once compared to the 2-3 of an ultrawide. This monitor has a built-in far-field microphone for hands-free voice control. It has perfect coverage of the sRGB color gamut used by most desktop content. The bottom photo with ClearType off shows some fringing around text, especially on curved or diagonal lines. LEARN ABOUT RESPONSE TIME @ MAX REFRESH RATE.
AW3423DW The display isn't bad, really, but it's noticeably less premium than the stand, which is disappointing if you're planning on VESA-mounting it. Truly jaw-dropping stuff. Sadly, although it can display a very wide color gamut, overall, HDR adds very little. The large screen is nice for watching videos, and it has wide viewing angles, so you can easily share it with someone else, and they'll still see an accurate image. The technology works by shining a blue organic LED through separate red and green Quantum Dot layers, avoiding the colour-fading (at high brightness levels) of the white element that normal OLED TVs use. Unfortunately, the stand has disappointing ergonomics, so it's hard to place it in an ideal viewing position. The Corsair XENEON 32QHD165 has a very fast refresh rate that most gamers will appreciate. Because of these differences, the LG Ultragear 48GQ900-B is better for playing games or viewing content on a PC, while the LG C2 OLED is superior for streaming, 4K Blu-Ray movies, and over-the-air TV. I measured a maximum full-screen HDR brightness of 221 nits. The smaller M8 delivers much better text clarity, and the stand has better ergonomics, so it's easier to place it in an ideal viewing position. Brightness can ramp up to more than 400 nits in a 10 percent window (in other words, when only 10 percent of the display panel is lit). Pricing is the final, and important, factor. Also, it displays near-perfect black levels in dark rooms, but blacks look pink in bright rooms due to the reflection handling. Its a usable image, but the color issues are apparent and left me unhappy. Colors are no longer oversaturated, and the color accuracy is fantastic. If it delivers the picture-quality goods, though, we somehow dont think well see many consumers complaining about Samsungs change of tune. Its app dependent. Including LGs brilliant new G2 series. Unfortunately, the Samsung M7 has bad ergonomics, so it's hard to place it in an ideal viewing position. The white balance is great, with very few noticeable issues. If you enjoy oversaturated content, the other picture modes are fine, but if you prefer accurate colors, it's best to either calibrate the monitor or use the sRGB mode. Although the Dell Alienware AW3423DW and the Gigabyte AORUS F048U OLED both have OLED panels, they perform a bit differently. Perhaps especially so with the S95B, given that the company is no doubt keen to push the benefits of its new take on OLED technology since its great rival LG has dominated the OLED space for so long. And it takes imaging to It features 175 Hz, G-Sync Ultimate, HDR, extended color and infinite contrast. Its a dramatic effect that wont be found on any LCD monitor lacking a Mini-LED backlight, and even those are not quite as effective. The desk is quite deep at 36 and my Herman Miller chair is adjustable. The LG 32QN55T has a basic design, with a curved stand and a plain black finish. While most colours look gorgeous to an at-times unprecedented degree, there can be issues with skin tones. You can choose between the Alexa and Bixby voice assistant features and use them to control Samsung products in your household. Sadly, this monitor doesn't support any variable refresh rate technologies like FreeSync, so you'll see more screen tearing in some games. This is a feature not all monitors of this type provide, and its an ideal arrangement if you want to use it in a PC-centric home theater. There's some brightness loss at wide angles, but most people won't notice it. Brightness felt excellent when placed in my darkly lit home theater but remained less impressive in my office. One thing to note is that the Alienware AW3423DW is not meant for consoles, and you should avoid using either of the HDMI 2.0 ports to hook up your PC because they limit the refresh rate to 100 Hz. Whether this level of brightness is good or bad has a lot to do with how, and where, you use the monitor. There's some very slight banding in darker shades of green and gray especially, but it's hardly noticeable. It's not that convenient either because if you want to change anything on the native apps, you need to open them in full-screen mode and then go back to Multi-View, so it's not a real Picture-by-Picture mode. First, the 138Hz overclock is more of a marketing ploy than a real, useful feature, as the difference between 138Hz and 120Hz isnt noticeable. The LG 32GP850-B and the Corsair XENEON 32QHD165 offer nearly identical performance in most ways. The Samsung uses a VA panel, and it's better suited for dark-room viewing, as it has much better contrast. 2020 color space, so it's not very future-proof, as more and more content will use that color space. The Corsair XENEON 32QHD165 we bought has amazing accuracy out of the box. It's bright enough to overcome glare in most rooms, so visibility shouldn't be an issue. The highest mode, 'Fastest', delivers a slightly faster response time, with all rise/fall times coming in under 3ms. The Gigabyte M32Q and the Corsair XENEON 32QHD165 are very similar overall. The ergonomic adjustments feel smooth, and it's easy to adjust it to a comfortable viewing position. Brightness felt high in my home theater, but merely adequate on my desk, even when set to maximum brightness. Unfortunately, this monitor isn't always flicker-free. Sadly, it's not as feature-rich as many competitors, especially the Gigabyte M-Series gaming monitors, like the Gigabyte M32U, and it's far more expensive than most comparable 1440p displays. It has amazing accuracy out of the box, as long as you choose the sRGB mode, and it has an incredible SDR color gamut, with complete coverage of both the sRGB and the Adobe RGB color spaces. In this case, however, default color accuracy was way off. Talking of gaming, the S95B is a glorious gaming monitor. Still, if you don't want to worry about changing settings if you switch to 60Hz, the 'Fast' setting delivers a fairly consistent experience. However, this might be a concern if you plan to use the monitor in a home theater. The overall accuracy out of the box is okay. The Corsair 32QHD165 has good color volume in HDR. The large screen gives you more screen real estate to work with, although the relatively low pixel density results in just decent text clarity. The cutting edge HDMIs are far from the end of the S95Bs gaming story. so theres still some minor fringing on small text that can be alleviated via ClearType. The monitor also lacks a backlight strobing feature to further improve motion clarity. Sharpness levels with both upscaled HD and native 4K are very good though perhaps not quite as blisteringly crisp as those of Samsungs premium 4K LCD TVs. There's a bit of flex to it, and the bottom bezel is slightly uneven. The monitor itself doesn't feel very well-built, though, as there's quite a bit of flex on the back panels, and the materials used feel a bit flimsy. So aggressive is the Dynamic mode, though, that beyond looking at it purely out of interest, we really wouldnt recommend that you stick with it. The biggest surprise, given our experiences with other Samsung TVs, is that the sound actually seems to have a forward dimension, rather than everything sounding as if its happening behind the screen. The BenQ EW3270U is better than the Samsung Smart Monitor M7 S43BM70. This is a problem because Windows is optimized for RGB. Unlike most monitors, there's an included remote control to navigate the settings and apps. The LG is a small TV with a traditional OLED panel, while the Dell is an ultrawide gaming monitor that uses the new QD-OLED technology. The Ultragear 48GQ900-B remained relatively inaccurate, but close enough for general use.

There's a physical button along the bottom bezel; this just serves to turn the monitor on/off. After all, Samsung basically invented the technology, and has been producing it for commercial displays for a couple of years now. If you're concerned about privacy, there's a physical switch to disable the mic next to the power button. It's not loud, but it's loud enough that I hear it if the room is quiet. Alienware 34 Inch Curved Gaming Monitor QD-OLED, QHD, 175Hz SAMSUNG does not have ANY QD-OLED TVs. Like most monitors, it's not available if FreeSync is enabled. Like most gaming monitors, you can adjust the level of overdrive. The extent to which we found we had to tweak multiple facets of the S95Bs pictures to get results that feel consistent as well as spectacular is a touch frustrating, and perhaps serves as a reminder that this is, after all, Samsungs first QD-OLED TV. The stand leans back a bit, so the distance between the viewer and the screen changes as you adjust the height. put them under the same test bench, There's only one HDR mode on this monitor, and enabling locks out all other picture settings. The Samsung M7 is good for watching videos. It's bright enough for a moderately-lit room, but it can't overcome glare in a very bright room. It also has a superb SDR color gamut, with full coverage of the sRGB color space used by most content. These measurements are after calibration, in the 'Custom' Picture Mode, with the backlight at max and Max Brightness on. Unfortunately, it has mediocre coverage of the wider Adobe RGB color space, so it's not ideal for print processing if you usually work in this color space. I havent had any issues with it. We still film these videos on the monitor so you can compare the backlight performance with a monitor that has local dimming. The LG 32QN55T-B is FreeSync certified, but it only works with sources that support FreeSync, including AMD graphics cards and the Xbox Series X. The LG 32GN55T-B has great input lag, resulting in a responsive desktop and gaming experience. The Corsair XENEON 32QHD165 has exceptional low input lag, resulting in a very responsive gaming experience. De line-up bestaat onder meer uit drie high-end gamingmonitors met QD-oled-, woled- en miniledschermen. This means the image appears much cooler, more blue, and darker than it should. Unfortunately, the LG 32QN55T-B has mediocre built quality. G-SYNC can still be enabled manually, though, and it appears to be working properly, but only over DisplayPort. The Corsair XENEON 32QHD165 is a very good monitor for watching videos, but not if you're in a dark room. The lack of image processor is also arguably a perk because it reduces latency. Motion clarity is superb at both 138Hz and 120Hz. It's provided for reference only and shouldn't be used, as the calibration values vary per individual unit due to manufacturing tolerances, even for the same model. There's very little banding in areas of similar color. Such text usually isnt legible on a monitor with a refresh rate below 240Hz.
Strangely, this monitor is also limited to 120Hz with a 10-bit signal over DisplayPort. The menus are well labeled and offer the usual range of adjustment. It's limited by its incomplete coverage of both the DCI P3 and the Rec. But even this is smaller and slimmer than such processing, connection and speaker-bearing segments on other otherwise super-skinny TVs tend to be, leaving the incredible thinness of the QD-OLED panel to define the S95Bs extraordinary look. The sides of the screen are quite a bit darker than the center, but this isn't very noticeable with regular content. The Samsung M7 43" is a decent monitor for media creators. The LG 32QN55T has okay peak brightness in HDR. It's not designed for gaming, and as such, it delivers just an alright gaming experience, and finally, although it supports HDR, this adds very little, as it doesn't have a local dimming feature and can't get very bright.
